In 2018, we launched the Toastmasters Club with the support of Roshan Perera and Sandya Rajapaksha. We are deeply grateful to both of them for laying the foundation of this initiative with such dedication.
Since its inception, Roshan Perera has served as the leading mentor of the Speech Club. His outstanding commitment has been instrumental in shaping young individuals into confident and articulate public speakers.
The club is open to children aged 12 to 16, and over the years, these young participants have flourished. They have developed the ability to speak fearlessly in front of audiences and regularly take the stage at SLFS events as public speakers and MCs. Their confidence and eloquence make their parents—and the broader Sri Lankan community—immensely proud.
Many of these talented youth have also gone on to excel in public speaking competitions, winning awards locally and demonstrating impressive growth and capability.
This year, we would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Judy Fernando, the SLFS Committee Coordinator, for her invaluable support in managing the club and helping ensure its continued success.
